Columbia Disaster
The most fatal accident in the history of USA space program was the explosion in Columbia space shuttle. On 1st February 2003, the space shuttle Columbia disintegrated the moment it re-entered the atmosphere of the earth.
All the seven crew members including Indian-born Kalpana Chawla were killed.
NASA grounded all shuttle operations for 29 months.

कोलंबिया दुर्घटना
सबसे घातक घटना अमेरिका के अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान में जो घटी वो अंतरिक्ष यान कोलंबिया में हुआ विस्फोट था। 1 फरवरी 2003 को कोलंबिया जब पृथ्वी के वातावरण में प्रवेश कर रहा था, उसी समय एक जोरदार धमाका हुआ।
कोलंबिया अंतरिक्ष यान में सवार सभी सात क्रू मेंबरस की मृत्यु हो गई थी। मरने वालों में भारतीय मूल की अंतरिक्ष यात्री कल्पना चावला भी थी।
इस भयानक घटना के बाद नासा ने लगभग 29 महीनों तक सभी अंतरिक्ष यानों के संचालन पर रोक लगा दी थी।
